Sustainability
We actively chose to design and make our FLXNFLW Sweat Towels from at least 80% recycled post-consumer plastic. This means recycled plastic bottles are sorted, cleaned, processed, and then spun into fabric that we can use! Thus, reducing our overall impact on the environment.
By using recycled material rather than virgin materials, we can save tonnes of fabric from going to our Aussie landfills each year. How good is that!
We also found that Recycled PET (rPet) material actually works! Its' "suede-like" fibers offers amazing grip, absorption and cozy softness to our sweat towels.
The Stats
Australians buy billions of plastic bottles every year. An astonishing 53% of plastic bottles end up in landfill and sadly, at least 12% end up in our environment. (WWF, Plastic Revolution to Reality 2020).
Like other single-use plastic items (plastic straws and bags), plastic water bottles are only used briefly but remain in the environment for hundreds of years causing considerable damage to wildlife, the environment and our health.
Making a Choice
We set out to use recycled materials for our sweat towels. Why? Because it’s a simple way to make a big impact. Recycled products help reduce waste, conserve natural resources, and lower carbon emissions. By choosing items made from recycled materials, you’re supporting a more sustainable future and also encouraging others to prioritise the planet. Plus, today’s recycled products are just as high-quality and reliable so you don’t have to sacrifice performance to make a better choice.
Looking Forward
Each towel comes with a kraft‑paper insert, offering a clean, recyclable touchpoint that keeps our brand story close. We pair this with plastic packaging, while not our ideal, it ensures product hygiene and durability during transit. We are also actively exploring additional sustainable options for future products and post-consumer recycled plastic packaging options to help minimise impact in the future.
While we're not perfect, we're committed to making choices that are better for the planet and our community; continually learning, improving, and doing what we can with what we have.
